The public broadcaster Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK) generated a revenue of 6.22 billion Norwegian kroner in 2023. In 2022, it was the first time the revenue climbed ove the six-million kroner mark. NRK was the largest company in the programming and broadcasting industry in Norway as of October 2021, followed by the commercial TV broadcasters TV2 and Discovery Networks Norway.

NRK offers a wide range of public services, such as television and radio stations, as well as online, podcast, and mobile services. Its TV channel NRK1 was the most popular television station in Norway in 2022, with an audience share of over 30 percent.
How is NRK financed?
The state-owned Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation was until 2019 funded by an annual TV and radio license fee, which amounted to 3,038.56 Norwegian kroner per household as of 2019. The company collected the fee on behalf of the Norwegian Ministry of Culture. From January 1, 2020 on, NRK is financed through the national budget.
